As anyone who follows me on Twitter (@paulceaston) knows, I'm a big fan of Hootsuite (@hootsuite), a Web application for managing your status updates. I use it to read and manage my Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn feeds, but I've never thought of it as a tool for collaborating among project team members.
So I was surprised to find in my inbox an e-mail from Hootsuite asking me if I "need better methods for coordinating with project teams?" It goes on to invite me to:
The webinar is open to everyone, but space is supposedly limited. If you are interested in attending, you can sign up for the webinar here: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/914793536
[j]oin us for a Webinar to explore HootSuite's team workflow tools and learn tactics for power tuning your social media dashboard for monitoring conversations, spreading messages and tracking success across multiple networks.
It will be [h]osted by HootSuite Community Director, Dave Olson and presented by Learning Specialist, Lewis Howes and is targeted for "Agencies, Brands, Consultants, [and] Teams with multiple contributors."
Unless there is some form of secured, private, status update functionality that I'm unaware of, I'm not sure that it see Hootsuite as a useful LPM tool. Certainly, status update feeds can be important project team tools, which is why new-generation project management tools, such as Zoho Projects, put great emphasis on them. Trying to use Hootsuite for this purpose, however, seems fraught with information-security issues. I'm guessing this webinar will focus on how marketing teems can collaborate on brand and reputation management, and will unlikely be particularly useful for legal-project managers, but I'll save judgement until after I hear their pitch.
