Is legal-project management gaining traction in Spain? If Anna Marra has any say in the matter it will. Anna recently published an article in Lawyer Press, an on-line, Spanish-language publication for lawyers. I don't read Spanish, but could make out most of the article using Google Translate. The article provides a brief introduction to LPM, why lawyers should use it and how they can deploy it it and apply it to their daily activities. Anna also mentioned in a recent discussion posted to the PMI LPM Community Group on LinkedIn that she is writing a book on the subject.Related articlesLPM 2012 and...

I realize a few weeks have gone by with no posts here. Besides the normal rush and pressures of client projects, there have been a number of other work and personal projects that have put this blog, and my social media activities in general, on hold. First, I've been busy helping to launch AbsoluteProof® WebSeal,™ a Web-evidence collection, integrity preservation, and authenticity service, designed to support the increase in Web-related litigation and investigation activities. AbsoluteProof WebSeal is powered by AbsoluteProof, Surety's patented, digital timestamping methodology, and is delivered to the market as a litigation-support managed service by Global Colleague.I co-authored an article on...

Juicy bite-sized morsels of legal-project management from the week ending Saturday, January 29, 2011. Hubpages now has a page on legal-project management. Not surprisingly, it is a disappointment and I couldn't help but to rant about Hubpages and its ilk in a separate post. Brussels-based consultancy FrahanBlondé discusses how to use legal-project management to monitor budgets in a post to their Legal Management blog. The focus of their advice is the power of decomposition, the process of breaking down your work into more measurable and manageable components. The Association of Corporate Counsel has not made its "Project Management 101"...

Juicy bite-sized morsels of legal-project management from the week ending Saturday, January 22, 2011. wiseGEEK answers "What is Legal Project Management" in an article written by C. Mitchell and edited by John Allen. Overall, I think it is a good summary, but I don't quite agree with the following statement from the article: "There is no single definition of legal project management, as the phrase describes more of a practice philosophy than something tangible to implement." While there are many competing LPM approaches, most focus on providing a set of best practices, methodologies, and tools to implement. In a...

In a Technolawyer Community Technofeature article, Donna Seyle discusses the importance of project management workspaces and deal rooms in an article listing useful technologies to help lawyers provide their clients with fixed-fee billing. A summary of the e-mailed newsletter article is available on the Technolawyer...

Juicy bite-sized morsels of legal-project management from the week ending Saturday, December 11, 2010. In a post to her At the Intersection blog, Pamela Woldow spreads some holiday cheer by discussing Darwin's observation that in nature only the most fit survive¡ "Fit" means those organisms best able to adapt to changing conditions. She notes that law firms are beginning to adapt to the changing profession and no longer hears law firm partners claim that legal-project management is "a flash in the pan."   Now, particularly in major firms with major clients, partners no longer ask for whom the bell...

Gerry Riskin, co-founder of Edge International, advises Indian law firms to adopt legal-project management in an interview on the Bar & Bench News Network: I would advise those Indian firms who do not currently have robust programs underway to learn and adopt the best practices of the best managed firms around the world that they need to begin now or risk being left far behind by those Indian law firms who have been doing just this for a number of years. In every market place...
